Predicate Logic
Predicate Logic
The proposition “9 is
an integer” form can be noted in two ways.
1.
Object or individual
2.
Property
Property here is
where the individual or object possessed. Property is referred as predicate.
Below is the illustration of Object or Individual
possession as Property.
Illustration:
x: nine
y: twelve
We use upper case
letters to denote Predicates. We use Z and Q for the predicate in this example.
Z: is an integer
Q: is a rational number
Now the Propositions
are:
Z(x): nine is an integer
Q(y): 12 is a rational number
To negate the “Z(x): nine is an integer”, simply put the not
symbol “–“ before the propositions, I.e
“–Z(x): nine is not an
integer”.
