COEFFICIENT
Two types of coefficients
1. Numerical Coefficients - the number before the letter in an expression.
- numerical factor of an expression.
Illustration:
1. 2x ; in this expression, 2 is the numerical coefficient.
2. 3y ; in this expression, 3 is the numerical coefficient.
3. x + 5y ; in this expression, 3 and 5 are the numerical coefficients.
4. x ; in this expression, 1 is the numerical coefficient.
2. Literal Coefficients - the letter(s) represented in the expression.
- numerical factor of an expression.
Illustration:
1. 2x ; in this expression, x is the literal coefficient.
2. 3y ; in this expression, y is the literal coefficient.
3. x + 5y ; in this expression, x and y are the literal coefficients.
4. x ; in this expression, x is the literal coefficient.
