POLYNOMIALS



-          An expression composed of one or more terms.

Types of Polynomials:

1.       Binomial – an expression composed of two terms.

Illustration:
a.       x + y
b.      2a – 3
c.       3m – 5n
d.      3(4r) + 3(-4s)
e.      2[(2x + 3y)] + [(4+y)]

2.       Trinomial - an expression composed of three terms.

Illustration:
a.       x + y – z
b.      3b + 2c + 4
c.       a + b – c
d.      2( x+3y) – a + 1
e.      x - 5[(4x - 3)] - [(8+c)]
f.        a2 +2ab + b2

3.       Quadronomial - an expression composed of four terms.

Illustration:
g.       2x2 + 3y2 – 4z - 5
h.      2m3 + 3m2 + m-1
i.         a + b – c + d
j.        2( x+3y) – 2a + 7b + 6
k.       X3 - 5[(4x - 3)] - [(8+c)] – c2
l.         a2 +2ab + b2 -  c2

4.       Polynomial - An expression composed of one or more terms.
