DECIMALS

Decimals are different way of writing a fraction that has denominators ending with zeroes.

And so, number 1 means 0.1, number 2 means 0.03 in decimal form, and so on. This dividing by 1 by 10,and dividing 3 by 100. After the decimal point we read the number as a whole number and name it of its last decimal place.

From the example, 0.1 read as 1 tenths, 0.03 read as 3 hundredths.Period before the digits is the decimal point, and the following digits is a certain decimal places. The decimal places is illustrated for further vision about its places locations and how to read it.

How to change any common fraction to decimal?


Simply divide the numerator and write the quotient in decimal form.

To add and subtract decimals, align all decimal in vertical form. Then in normal manner add or subtract the whole numbers in it. Also, see to it that the answer or result also has decimal point aligned to the given. The photo is provided below for more vivid clarification.

Add the following decimals. First, align the decimals before you do addition.

Subtract the following decimals. First, align the decimals before you do subtraction.

1.  12.02         2. 2.36          3.  42.89             4.  78.001           5.  7.13
     14.453           6.450             6.238                 12.65                   9.36
