VOLUME OF A CUBE

Illustration of a volume of a cube:

Volume of a cube is the total contain amount by multiplying the length to its height up to its width.In a cube, the length is equal to width which also equal to height. Hence, length = width = height or if labeled by one variable "s" that is V = side*side*side = s 3.

Formula:

V = s 3

Where:

V = volume
s = side

Illustrative problem:

1. What is the volume of the cube with a side measured 2 meters?

a) Illustration:

b). Given: V = ?
             s = 2 m

c). Required in this problem: Volume (V)

d). Formula: V = 3

c). Solution: V =

                         = (2 m) 3

                                 = 8 m 3  answer

2. A metal box with no cover on top has a dimension of 3 meters by 3 meters by
3 meters. Find the capacity volume of the box to be filled by water.

a) Illustration:

b). Given: V = ?
             s = 3 m

c). Required in this problem: Volume (V)

d). Formula: V = 3

c). Solution: V =

                         = (3 m) 3

                                  = 27 cubic meters answer

(If the box has no top cover, still the volume is the same.)

3. The box has the volume measured 125 cubic inches. Find the measure of the box sides.

a) Illustration:

b). Given: V = 125 cu. in.
                    s = ?

c). Required in this problem: side (s)

c). Solution: V = s 3

Derive the formula;
